With a journey that began as a parent navigating the complex special education system, Johanna R. Ginsberg now channels her experiences into empowering other parents to secure the services their children need. Her diverse background spans an award-winning career in journalism, entrepreneurship, and criminal defense, all of which enrich her role as a special education attorney.
A proud Wolverine, Johanna holds a bachelor’s degree in English literature from the University of Michigan and a juris doctor from The University of Michigan Law School. During her law school days, she made waves as a legal intern at the Southern Poverty Law Center, where she penned a manual on parental rights for incarcerated mothers, defended the First Amendment rights of 2LiveCrew during the band’s obscenity trial, and tackled high-profile cases like the fight against Tom Metzger and WAR in Portland. More recently, Johanna has dedicated her legal expertise to special education law, working alongside organizations like Volunteer Lawyers for Justice to serve clients across New Jersey. She is licensed to practice in both New York and New Jersey.
